First, working for community service hours builds character and responsibility. People who make up community service hours are either to lazy or do not want to work unless they are paid. Working for your hours teaches work ethic and that work hours do not always need to be paid.
Second, the help that can be offered to people in need. Some people simply can’t afford to pay for labor. Others are too old and can’t get around to work. People who are
lazy and make up community service hours do not realize the positive effect they can have on people. Sometimes houses or establishments simply need lawn care, a pretty easy job.
As of right now I am currently working for a church every Friday for two hours cutting grass. I am working for community service hours so I won’t except pay, but in a way I do get paid; with respect. It feels food to help the church out and have them proud to have someone make their yard look good.
Community service hours aren’t pressured against high school students for no reason, the hours teach responsibility and hard work. To be able to make time to help out friends, family, or neighbors for no pay takes some work ethic. Forget getting paid though, some people who decide to cheat need to realize the pleasure of earning respect. People who are less fortunate are in need, get off your butt and work instead of being lazy and lying about you hours!
