The first difference that we can find between them is their location. While the City of New York is located on the Northeastern side of the country, at the mouth of the Hudson River, the City of Miami, is located on the opposite side in the Southeast Atlantic coast.
A second difference is the weather. On one hand, the “Big Apple” has a humid continental climate, which is influenced by not only one continental air mass but two: a warm, humid one from
the southwest and a cold and damp, while seasons like autumn are unpredictable. On the other hand, Miami has a tropical monsoon climate, with very hot and humid summers, short warm winter and long hurricane season that goes from June to November.
Finally, perhaps the most striking difference between both cities is population. On one hand, New York is the most populated city in the United States, after a census estimated in 2014, population was at that time of 8,491,079. On the other hand, Miami is the 44th most populated city in the country with population of 417,650 calculated after the same census in 2014.
As we can see New York is much more populated than Miami which has a population 10 times smaller than New York, but as a matter of fact we can still recognize after these differences that, both cities are filled with people from all around the globe and with tones of mixed cultures.
But not only if you want to get warm, enjoy nice beaches and practice your Spanish you should go to Miami, but also you can enjoy the cold winter, the great museums, and the amazing skyscrapers by visiting the “Great Big Apple City”, all of these characteristics make each of these cities attractive for all types of people around the country and the whole world.
