Buddhism had originated in the north eastern region of the Indian sub-continent. In the beginning of Buddhism’s spread, it had spread mostly eastwards towards the Chinese dynasties, South-Asian kingdoms & city-states, and even Japan. Albeit, Buddhism did spread westwards towards places such as Bactria (modern day Afghanistan), however it was replaced and almost, if not, fully removed in the region under the rule of different Islamic Caliphates. Christianity had originated in Jerusalem under control of Rome. In its first few centuries had spread westwards, mostly through the Roman Empire and areas around the Mediterranean. However, Christianity managed to spread throughout most of the world including the Americas, and become the most followed religion in the world. Meanwhile Buddhism stayed mostly in South, South-East, and East Asia, managing to become the world’s 4th largest
