Compare And Contrast Captain America Civil War
Captain America: Civil War is one of the most popular and top grossing films of 2016. Marvel Studios’ action-packed, story and character driven, critically acclaimed, and award winning movie is truly one of the most exceptional films in the world. However, this major motion picture was quite a leap for the prominent franchise. Known for their comedic, action-packed, and upbeat films, Marvel Studios had made a bold move when deciding to produce a film with a much darker tone than their previous projects. The movie required a more serious atmosphere and tone in order to emphasize the underlying themes and storyline. This change of mood helped emphasize a particular theme within the movie: the breakdown of civilization. In fact, this theme is present in a popular and classic novel, which is implemented in the English Language Arts curriculum in schools around the world, Lord of the Flies. …show more content…
The book requires thorough analysis in order for the reader to understand the complex themes which make the book an excellent piece of literature. Similar to Captain America: Civil War, Lord of the Flies may be a form of entertainment, however, if the audience chooses to analyze the piece of literature in-depth, the theme: breakdown of civilization becomes more distinguishable. Although there are obvious differences between the two forms of literature, they are more similar than different. Captain America: Civil War can be different than Lord of the Flies because the characters in the movie are responsible and mature adults who can justify their choices and decisions. However, these two forms of literature are more similar than different because they share the theme: the breakdown of civilization, shown through a group of people who are split up and overcome by fear and resort to violence due to having different

The theme in “Lord of the Flies” and “Hotel Rwanda” would be the breakdown of civilization. In the beginning of the book and the movie everything is fine and nothing bad is happening. In “Lord of the flies” when piggy dies that is when civilization breakdowns and everybody starts killing. In the movie “Hotel Rwanda” as the movie progresses the president is killed which leads to all the killings and no more rules. This is why the theme is breakdown of civilization because when the peacekeepers in the book and movie are killed there are no more rules and civilization collapse.…

After watching a movie so underwhelming to it’s counterpart on paper you question why they ever bothered to turn such a literary classic into a screenplay. It is safe to assume even the French are saying, “Pourquoi Hollywood? Pourquoi?”. A book such as Lord of the Flies (1954) by William Golding, deserved more than selling out to a complete body of American directors, writers, and actors, who would disregard the important themes and meanings behind the book due to “time restraint”. Movies are adapted to bring books to life, but someone watching the movie Lord of the Flies (1990) directed by Harry Hook, would never quite understand the meaning behind the boys, their journey, and the question being answered about man versus nature presented by…

Lord of the Flies by William Golding tells the story about a group of English boys who are stranded on an island after a plane that they were on was shot down. On this island the boys have the freedom of living without adults. They must find a way to set up a society that is livable in and that maintains order. However as time passes the characters see that those tasks are easier said than done. In Lord of the Flies, there are many different characters that show development and growth. Characters like Piggy, Ralph, and Jack all show signs of maturing and growth near the end of the book. Some of the characters were humane and try to maintain order, but other characters fall into the savagery that is within everyone. This statement is best depicted…

In my personal opinion, these two stories have a theme of Individualism vs. Community. In Lord of the Flies, the theme of Individualism vs. Community plays a huge roll. One of the main concerns in the novel is the fear of one child being more powerful than another. In the community, the characters feel as though they are not treated equally whenever the chief gets a little too big for his britches. The boys begin to revolt against the leader and conflict arises.…

We, as an audience, love to see heroes win. We love stories where the underdog rises up and defeats the bigger, badder, opposition. Not only do the authors and creators love that we love their work, so do their wallets. Look at the Lord of the Ring series or the Harry Potter series, both are very popular and financially successful. It’s because people make what sells, and these stories sell. However, The Lord of the Flies does not have a clear victor at the end of the book, nor does it paint a clear, black-and-white story with a clear protagonist and antagonist; yet, it still enjoyed commercial and critical success. Golding wrote well and delivered an exciting book, and also challenged the reader by presenting them with something that is morally gray. Golding made the reader question themselves and question their own thought process, and that’s what made the book so good, in my opinion. Audiences need to see more challenging stories, that leave the reader or viewer questioning themselves, or stories that leave the audience feeling uncomfortable or sad.…

Lord of the Flies is a relatively short book, but within its small amount of text William Golding is able to do much more than tell an exciting story. He digs deep into human nature and the natural corruption in people's souls. He specifically explores the impact that fear has on people and how it makes them act. In Golding's eyes, humans are doomed just as the children on the island are, and that is because of fear. He believes that just the presence of terror causes people to overreact and lose common sense, tearing away at the bonds that hold society together. In an attempt to calm or soothe their worries, people end up separating, singling out others and letting their inner savage take over, leaving…

In William Golding's Lord of the Flies, the entire plot is revolving around many school boys, from the ages of four to twelve, stranded on a deserted island with no adults and no order. There is a lot of testosterone and fighting over authority. There is a lot of mortal combat and death in this novel. There is, however, bullying and harsh words are exchanged between the boys, as well. there is absolutely no romance in Lord of the Flies, either, it is strictly about young British boys in the 1950's trying to survive together on an island. Unfortunately, there is no "happy ending" to this novel, evil wins. There are way more "villains" than there are "heroes" and, unlike fairy tales evil beats good in the overall look of things. This book is serious and heavy and is an symbol for life itself.…
