Just like Della I save my money for long periods of time then when the time comes to buy something I spend it all. Matilde is a very depressed and lonely woman. She feels sorry for herself and pitties herself for her hard life.Unlike Matilde I tend to be more cheerful and happy. I don’t like to waste time feeling sorry for myself when there could be more important things I could be doing. Matilde also spends almost all her time thinking of a life she doesn’t have. She wants a life with riches and fame but none of the work that it takes to have that life. Wishing for a life you don’t have takes time away from making your life better. I would love to be super rich and not have to pay for things like a car or college but that’s not the life I live. In the story, Matilde uses her husbands money that he was gonna to buy a gun with to go out with his friends. She takes his happiness away and never gives it a second thought. She is so buried in how bad she thinks her life is she has no empathy for others. Empathy is like stepping into someone else's life and looking inside and not just on the outside and I know that I have empathy towards others. Yesterday I was at the store and there was A mom there with her kids and the were yelling and screaming so she would yell at them to stop. My immediate reaction was why is she being so mean. But I had to take a step back and realize that I have no idea what she is going through right now so I can’t judge. Me and Matilde are completely different people we share little

At a young age I was taught the value of the dollar. When it comes to money I am a saver. I have always tried to save every penny, and when I had a little extra I would treat myself to something I had been wanting. I always tell myself, “Save your money, you never know when something you really need or would really like to have could come along.” When it comes to having a lot of money and a lot of possessions, I don’t really need all of it. Yes, every now and then it’s nice to go out and go shopping for new things. I’m a girl; most girls like to do that type of thing. Being materialistic does not mean you will always be happy. When you get something that you think you ought to have and you get it and after a while its “wow” factor wears off. Then you aren’t as happy as you are when you got it. What are you to do then? Spend time with people that make you happy or pick up a new hobby that you are found of.…
