How Did George Washington Make Decisions
Making decisions might may be the hardest thing to do. The three characters ”Resignation Speech of George Washington”,”The Scarlet Ibis,” and “The Gift of the Magi” all were impacted on decision making. Throughout their lives they made great decisions. Those decisions ended up reflection on their lives. In these three stories the main factor was decisions making.
As well as the narrator in ‘’The Scarlet Ibis” demonstrates sometimes decisions are based on a combination of love and embarrassment as was the case in his interactions with his brother. George Washington decided to resign as the president of the United States of America. This was a tough decision for Washington since he adored being president. George Washington once told “I consider it an indispensable duty to close this last solemn act of my official life, by commending the interest of our dearest country” (Washington). Washington is saying that he is resigning because that's what he thinks is right to do for his country.
Likewise, Jim and Della both gave up their prized possessions to give the other happiness. When Della asked Mrs.Sofronie “Will you buy my hair”(O’Henry). Della would do anything to get jim the perfect gift for christmas when she sold her hair. When Jim said “Della let’s put our christmas gifts aside keep them a while, they are too nice to use (O’Henry). It did not matter that they sold their most precious items to get each other a gift for Christmas.
In conclusion, decision making comes in all forms. In these stories there decision making played a key role in their lives.
