There are a multitude of differences between the book Flowers for Algernon and the movie Charly; I counted so many differences, it almost seems like the actors and crew did not even read the book at all. One of the major differences between the book and the movie is
Ms. Kinnians relationship with Charlie. Throughout the book there is only one instance where Charlie confronts Mrs. Kinnian about his love. However, in the movie he essentially assaults Mrs. Kinnian, and they later go away for a weekend together. In fact, at the end of the movie, Ms. Kinnian proposes to Charlie.
