The one main difference between a hurricane and tornado is how and where they form. Hurricanes form over water. The water must be warm in order for one to form. On the other hand, tornadoes form over land. Tornadoes form by the clashing of high and low pressure systems. That saying is when you have warm air coming from the west and the cold air coming from the east clashing. It could result in a formation of a funnel cloud which forms into a tornado. As everyone knows, they both cause tremendous damage to people property as well as leave a huge impact on the people lives. The best thing about a hurricane versus a tornado, is you have warning and know what to expect of it. As for a tornado, they can happen at the spur of the moment. They both can cause significant damage to everyone’s lives, but in different ways. Hurricanes are known for causing water damage, which can cost a huge amount of money to have it fixed as well as to replace anything that was water damaged. A hurricane is an intense tropical storm with powerful winds and heavy rain, also known as a cyclone. Hurricanes and tornadoes are both storm systems that can cause a lot of destruction. Hurricanes are much larger than tornadoes but tornadoes generate faster winds. They both need warm and cold air to become a hurricane or tornado, but are different in the way they form. Hurricanes and tornadoes both have a calm area at the center called an eye. The eye of a hurricane is the calmest. The winds around the eye of the hurricane are the strongest and are called the eye wall. They can have speeds over 200 miles per hour. In a tornado the eye is a “weak-echo” region it does not reflect a radar beam. Hurricanes and tropical storms also known as (cyclones)…

Hurricanes and tornadoes both form in very different places. Tornadoes can form anywhere in the world. They prefer flat, dry terrain and the strongest tornadoes form in tornado alley in Missouri, Indiana and Illinois. Hurricanes start out as storms and form in warm, tropical oceans and travel to the coastlines in which they hit. It takes tornadoes about 30-45 minutes to form and touch down but it takes a long 4 days for a hurricane to form. That's a long time compared to a…

I believe in order to truly understand the danger of tornados; one should know the importance of the current explanations of how and why tornados are formed. Tornados are often started by a storm called, supercell storms. Supercell storms are normally large and severe that will develop in highly unstable environments such as cool, dry air lies above warm, moist air. These types of storms in America usually occur during the spring time, because of the warm moist air that moves from the Gulf of Mexico to the north and eventually meets cooler, dry air.…
