Kennedy’s death helped improve the space program and the race to space agenda. Without Lincoln there to guide the United States through reconstruction, the United States took action on the issue at hand. Radical Republicans wanted to completely destroy the Confederacy’s power. They were angry against the South for separating from the Union and going to war. Lincoln’s death allowed other government officials to lead the United States into reconstruction. Radical Reconstruction, which was a form of harsh punishment for the South was the most popular suggestion after the death of president Lincoln. This idea only lead to the complete opposite of what government officials had hoped for. Big shocker, the southerners did not want to comply with such demands.
