Lincoln and Andrew Johnson were out of sympathy with black suffrage, especially conferred by the federal government. Johnson's interpretations of Lincoln's policies prevailed the Congressional elections of 1866 in the North, which enabled the Radicals to take control of policy, remove former Confederates from power, and enfranchise the freedmen. There were five black members of the House of Representatives: Benjamin Turner of Alabama; Josiah Walls of Florida; and Robert Brown, Joseph H Rainey and also Robert Carlos DeLarge of South Carolina. There was a Governor of Louisiana from December 9th 1872 1873 to January 13th by the name of Pinckney Benton Stewart. A black politician was the first to serve as a state governor. Reconstruction happened two times the first two it has divided the south except Tennessee but still the south has five military districts. Many men has lost lives during the Civil War during the time period of Reconstruction. What many people don’t know that Reconstruction was set up to help eleven states seceded part of the union and have congress seats as well as self-government. Samuel J Tilden ran against democrat in the election in 1876. Lincoln has chosen Johnson as one of his running mates in the election to persuade Border States in the union in 1864. A secret society formed in Tennessee to terrorize blacks in 1866. White racist men and women has created an organization named Ku Klux Klan aka known by the KKK. It was a violent reaction to congress passage of the civil rights act of 1866. Southern states could reenter the union after 50% of their voters pledge allegiance to the U.S. before all of it began a bill has been stipulated. Lincoln’s vision for reconstruction seemed to favor self-construction by the states with little assistance. The radical republicans in congress feared that Lincoln’s plan was not harsh enough to the south and need to be punished for the war. Lincoln was too
