The long decline of the Western Roman Empire was caused by the accumulation of the many obstacles that stood in their way over time. At first the Roman Empire was thriving. It was the biggest empire at the time and it expanded at an incredible speed. Their military and leadership capabilities were magnificent. When confronted by the Roman military their enemies were better off giving up and not even trying; it wasn’t worth it. In time, however, the Roman Empire’s golden age expired, they stopped conquering and internal drawbacks began to appear. The once flourishing Roman Empire began to face many problems, like military incapacity, the growth of Christianity, and unemployment, all of which contributed in a different way to the decline of the Empire.…
Throughout the classical period, many civilizations, and empires have grown, like Greece, the Mayan empire, and the Gupta Empire. Although many have rose, and became greater, a few empires also got destroyed, including some of the same that grew. Near the end of the classical period, two of the largest empires of Ancient Europe and Asia, Rome and Han China collapsed. Even though the Han China Empire only lasted 200 years, and Rome around 900, they were the largest empires in the classical period. Each empire had many different emperors, and rulers, yet they continued to fail in restoring the empires. However, when the empire started to decline, Diocletian split the empire into western Rome and eastern Rome in 200 A.D.. While eastern Rome continued to thrive, western Rome collapsed in 400 A.D.. Both Rome and Han experienced unequal land distribution which led to political instability, and both suffered from invasions of nomadic tribes due to political instability which would lead to the collapse. One reason that that these empires fell was because the Roman Empire’s trade kept being disrupted by the barbarians as well as the Hans were being interrupted by the Xiongnu nomads. Also in Rome there was a decline in the interest of trade in younger citizens because their parents gave them whatever they needed so the younger citizens didn’t want to work for anything. There was also an inflation of prices on products in both of these empires and families couldn’t afford many things. If citizens couldn’t pay for the necessities then they went to black markets which cost the governments money. The most significant reason that these empires fell economically was the taxes. When the farmers with only a little bit of land they don’t really make any money off of it or pay taxes on it they sell it to a wealthy person who can but most large estate owners will bribe officials to avoid…
Many empires of Middle East civilizations have had strong political and social structures. Two of these empires are the Ottomans and the Safavids. The rise of the Ottomans correlates with the decline of the Roman Empire, which generated the shift in power from a singular Christian European society to a more Islamic influence. The Ottoman people became powerful in Asia Minor, which collapsed as a Seljuk Turk Kingdom, in the 13th to 14th centuries. The Safavids rose to power following the collapse of the Turkic Empire and invasion of the Mongols in the 13th and 14th centuries. Although the Safavids had advanced political and social systems, the Ottoman empire had more efficient political and social methods.…
