Intussusception is when a portion of the intestine folds into the part (Mayo Clinic, 2017). Because of this fold blood, foods and fluid are not able to the
past through which can lead to the death of bowel tissue (Mayo Clinic, 2017). This condition is painful for the infant. The child normal has loud cry which is caused by abdominal pain that comes and goes every 15 to 20 minutes (Mayo Clinic, 2017). Infant pull their knees to their chest to help relieve the pain. The infant may have the following signs, blood stools mix with mucus, diarrhea, fever, vomiting, lump in the stomach and sluggish (Mayo Clinic, 2017). This serious condition which requires medical attention (Mayo Clinic, 2017). The patient will receive a barium or air enema as a form of treatment and if that does not work then surgery is the next step (Mayo Clinic, 2017).
