Roosevelt vs Wilson Who Do You Prefer?
In the early years of this great nation we find to amazing men that wanted to preside over the United States in ways no others had attempted to do as of yet. They both had great ideas and in some ways were similar and yet others miles apart. They believed their way was gospel and this country would perish under the other so to speak. President Roosevelt was out to be our great Nationalist with a campaign based on a human welfare goal. However, Woodrow Wilson was out to be the first great Freedomist with a campaign based more on a property welfare goal. There are pros and cons from both sides when you think about it but the question is which is best for the United States and its future. He made some valuable decisions for our country prior World War I regarding the trade route to China and the building of the Panama Canal. He flexed our naval muscles with The Great White Fleet tour. He helped further the segregation movement and women’s rights. President Roosevelt was a President for the people more than big business. This was the basis for his campaign in the 1912 election. He believed in human welfare over property rights would make for a stronger federal government. This would regulate the economy and in turn guarantee social justice. He felt executive industries should regulate themselves not so much the court systems and it would work as long as industries would behave themselves. He felt that the government was in place to protect the laborer not the industry by supporting child labor laws and minimum wage laws. He believed in unifying the currency so that there was one form of currency not several issued by private companies as well as our government. He wanted to conserve national resources and the use of waterways. All of this makes for a strong people oriented
