In “The Golden Curse” the author shows that one of the major problems in the play was when Midas greediness led him to turned everything into gold when he touched it. Because of this, Midas started to lose everything. His health was bad as his food was turned into gold whenever he touched it and he could not eat anything. His daughter turned into gold and people were scared of him.
After that, Midas begs Dionysus for another chance to turn him to normal and he learned his lesson about greediness and gold which is refered as money didn’t bring him any happiness in fact only saddeniss. Dionysus told him to take a bath in river Pactolus. He was then restored.
In “Can Money buy happiness” one Major problem Hannah observed is when she saw a homeless man walking down the street saying (Hungry, homeless, please help.} that created a lot of questions about differences between the poor and the rich.I think this was a Major part of the text because this was the turning point when she made her family realize that true and lasting happiness can be achieved by helping others and you don’t need more than your basic requirements. They sold their 1.5 Million dollar house as they realize big houses do not bring happiness. They donated the 800,000 dollars to charity. They bought a smaller house and they started to realize that had a closer connection to each other.
Both of these stories teach us that spending money on yourself does not bring lasting happiness. But true happiness comes from doing things for others which can be achieved by sharing time or your money with others. In “The Golden Curse” Midas Learns from his experience that even you have money, but you don't have your loved ones and health, money does not mean anything. In “Can Money buy happiness” Hannah and her family learned that materialistic things do not bring happiness. You can get Satisfaction in life by caring for others by doing charity. Another important thing that they realized is to be with your loved ones and care for them.
