Happiness In The Great Gatsby
Money isn’t the source of making someone happy. Happiness is achieved by people accomplishing their goals in life and becoming successful. In the book, The Great Gatsby, the main character Jay was dedicated to being rich, but that wasn’t his goal. In order to reach his goal in life and be truly happy he needed to be with the one person he loved and that was Daisy. Similar to this idea in the book, The Wolf Of Wall Street, Jordan Belfort the main character always wanted more and more as he could never settle for what he had. Because of this, he continued to get wealthy. Even with all the money he made, Jordan realized that to actually be happy he wanted to have power over everyone and be able to do what he wanted. He would do whatever he needed to do to become rich. Jordan definitely had a different life than Gatsby. Belfort would receive pleasure and happiness from using his money by buying hookers, drugs, cars, and illegal stocks. Jordan lived the party life and filled his blood with the most powerful and illegal drugs as possible. Having sex with at least 10 hookers a week. Even though money allowed him to buy these things, he didn’t settle for any of it. Because of Jordan becoming rich and a successful business man he could never settle for what he had, “ If you win the lottery you may feel richer than your neighbours, and think that moving to a mansion in a new neighbourhood would make you happy, but then you look out of thie window and realise that all your new friends live in bigger mansions” (Why money can't buy you happiness). This was Belfort’s case, He never was happy with what he was and he wanted to be the best to ever live so he did whatever he needed to do to become the best. Even if it meant doing something illegal, Jordan was all for it. Stocks were a new thing and a big way to make money so not many people knew what actually went on so that allowed Jordan to do an illegal move that cheated the system for a while but then the cops caught onto it. Since Jordan got stuck in this lifestyle with making all this money he was never able to stop and became addicted to this so it lead to him getting arrested and losing everything just because he had to be better than everyone

    To further the thought of motion in the characters is the literal meaning that is displayed in the novel as well as the emotional definition that was previous stated.
