Compare And Contrast The Holocaust And Salem Witch Trials

Did the Salem Witch Trials and The Holocaust have many things in common? For example, not only did both events kill innocent people, it destroyed communities. These events still affects today's life as well. The Holocaust, meaning “sacrifice by fire” in 1933, became one of the most famous genocides known to man (Holocaust Encyclopedia). More than six million jews were killed (Holocaust Encyclopedia). Not only jews were killed in the holocaust, but only jews were gassed. Thousands of others died from starvation or disease. As many as twelve thousand jews were killed per day. Auschwitz is one of the many concentration camps of the Holocaust, more than two million jews died in this camp as well as the other five mass killing centers that were later built. Even the National Socialist Government established concentration camps(Holocaust Encyclopedia). In comparison, The Salem Witch Trials, in 1692 that got started by a couple teenage girls, also killed innocent people (Miller 1124) . Although only twenty people were killed in this event, it is still an important event in history, with nineteen people hung to their death and one pressed by stone (Salem Witch Museum). In 1945 Anglo-Americans and Soviet troops entered concentration camps (Aftermath of the Holocaust). The troops found bones, remains, ashes, and even living jews and non-jews that were dying of starvation, dehydration, and disease (Aftermath of the Holocaust). Many of the jewish survivors were terrified of returning to their former homes because of the anti semitism that persisted in parts of Europe and the pain they endured(Aftermath of the Holocaust)
