In these two poems “We Wear the Mask” and “Richard Cory” it is really about people who do not show who they really are. People today are the same way, they hide their true colors. Most persons do not show who they really are for many reasons, one could be for fear that they will be made fun of or not be accepted by others around them. Some hide the way they feel when they are around persons because they don’t want them to know how they really feel or how there life might really be like. For example, sometimes someone can be sad about something but they will still put a smile on for everyone else. At times, it is people judging other people because of what they see. Persons wear a mask to hide behind, it is very common to see this among our society. . It is not always about what you have, or the things you can get, this material things will not make you happy and it has been proven even in today’s world. Famous people will commit suicide, even though they have money and could get whatever they wanted. It just shows us how money doesn’t always mean

After reading Dunbar’s poem, “We Wear the Mask,” I feel the poem was meant for an educated audience since the dialect was written in Standard English. In the first line, “We wear the mask that grins and lies,” the African American people are telling their side of the story through this poem. How they truly feel is contrary to their smiles, although, they suppose that things should not be any different. The author is trying to show the audience that many African-Americans are putting on a front for the world to see while, they endure their pain silently.…

In the short story, Father Hooper chooses to wear a black veil over his face for the rest of his life. Though many people believe it is a punishment for some terrible sin that he has committed we, the reader, discover that he has chooses to wear the veil to reflect the hidden sins within himself, but he still reminds those nearby that all God's creatures have the same hidden sins, and therefore, instead of wearing a black veil, they hide their sins behind a false front, like wearing a mask. "The Minister's Black Veil," Mr. Hooper wears a black crape veil that falls over his face, hiding it from his congregation, who quickly are unnerved by this action, wondering why he is wearing the veil. Further, the ironic aspect of this action of Mr. Hooper is that not only does it affect the other members of the community, but it profoundly affects him, as well, serving both external and internal conflicts. However, the veil does little but alienate Mr. Hooper from others, rather than getting them to look into their own…

He writes of the dark reality in hiding people’s individuality. For example, “They were burdened with sashweights and bags of birdshot, and their faces were masked, so that no one, seeing a free and graceful gesture or a pretty face, would feel like something the cat drug in” (Vonnegut). Using masks and handicap harnesses as concealment stresses the flaw in an ideal equal society thought of by Americans instead of a truly moral society. A principled society focuses on equal rights, and not identical appearances or talents. On the other hand, freedom is no longer a value in the story because everyone must stay within their limits to continue as “normal” like the rest of…

Dunbar’s We Wear the Mask addresses the faults of humanity and the intersectional themes of race, society and class within the poem. The “mask” within this piece is symbolic of the ways in which society structures and organizes individuals to conform to societal standards. To support this theory - Dunbar uses the American Dream and slavery to remind his readers “we” wore the mask back then and “we” still wear the mask to this day.…

The silhouette on the right is pulling a wagon-full of the same masks, indicating that their duty is to transform everyone into the same kind of person. This whole image is encompassed within a mirror, which is used to represent how what you see on the outside may not really be who you are. It is what matters on the inside that can truly identify a person from others because people can change their appearances, but not their innate…

Cement is a binder, a substance that sets and hardens independently, and can bind other materials together. The word "cement" traces to the Romans, who used the term opus caementicium to describe masonry resembling modern concrete that was made from crushed rock with burnt lime as binder. The volcanic ash and pulverized brick additives that were added to the burnt lime to obtain a hydraulic binder were later referred to as cementum, cimentum, cäment, and cement. Cements used in construction can be characterized as being either hydraulic or non-hydraulic. Hydraulic cements (e.g., Portland cement) harden because of hydration, a chemical reaction between the anhydrous cement powder and water. Thus, they can harden underwater or when constantly exposed to wet weather. The chemical reaction results in hydrates that are not very water-soluble and so are quite durable in water. Non-hydraulic cements do not harden underwater; for example, slaked limes harden by reaction with atmospheric carbon dioxide. The most important uses of cement are as an ingredient in the production of mortar in masonry, and of concrete, a combination of cement and an aggregate to form a strong building material..…

The cosmetic industry is one of which products tend to be countercyclical. Demand for such products normally remains constant and unaffected by economic distress. The color cosmetics are predicted to see a slowdown in volume demand. A growing trend in the cosmetic industry is the introduction of ‘green’ products. More than one in seven (16%) of global beauty products launched in 2008 were certified organic, ethical or natural. There are concerns that the global economic climate will stifle new product development, innovation and sustainability programs in 2009. An economic slowdown usually curbs companies from investing in research and development and it is that research that has brought forth a wealth of green cosmetics. For example, retailers such as Wal-Mart are increasingly requiring more ecofriendly supply chain. There are forecasts that consumers are unlikely to give up their commitments to organic products just to save a few pennies. 68% of consumers will remain loyal to a company that has a social and environmental commitment. Many consumers are now ‘voting with dollars’ for organic products and supporting brands that support values similar to their own.…
