Romeo was a young man, his hormones were raging, and his eyes were wondering. He was whining about how beautiful Rosaline was, how no other woman could be more beautiful than she. He was sulking and keeping to himself, he was rejected and depressed. His agony was over not being loved back by her, yet he knew nothing of her but her beauty. He never spoke of how intelligent she was, how funny, or how charming; he merely spoke of her physical beauty.
A matter of hours go by, and Romeo gets a glimpse of another beautiful woman, this time, Juliet was in his sights. What does this mean? The kind of love Romeo showed towards Rosaline and Juliet was nothing but pure lust from looking upon a beautiful young woman. I am confident, Romeo would have moved his affection to a different person if his eye caught the sight of another lovely beautiful young woman. Today, when we call a man a Romeo, it is known that that man is a player, he is someone who sweeps women off their feet, and quickly moves on to the next beautiful woman.
