Romeo was in "deep love" with Rosaline and he was heartbroken that she didn't love him back. He attended the Capulet's ball to meet her but instead he falls in love with Juliet. "Did my heart love till now? Forswear it, sight! For I ne'er saw true beauty till this night"(I, v, 50-51) words from Romeo show that he fell in love with her appearance and forgot all about Rosaline. Their unadvised marriage only led them to have to hide and lie. Romeo was hiding in Mantua while Juliet lies to her family and eventually fakes her death. Juliet's sudden decision to go through with Friar Lawrence's plan to fake her death resulted in the death of Romeo and Juliet. If Juliet had decided to run away, marry Paris or anything else Romeo and Juliet could have survived but since she made the sudden decision to listen to the Friar and fake her death she didn't take the time to figure out some alternative solutions.
