In Christian mythology, the earth and the heavens were created by God. He started with making with the sun which was day, and the moon which was night, then to making the waters separated by land, then the plants and trees. He made seasons, days, and years. He then made animals in the water and land. Lastly, he made a man a women so the can reproduce. Where in Greek mythology the world, earth, and everything from hell and heavens was created by the first three immortal beings Gaea, Tartarus, and Eros. They somewhat are the creations themselves. The titans made up the day, night, waters, and etcetera. Instead of creating everything as in Christian mythology, it was born. The sun was Helios, which …show more content…
was held up high by his brother Atlas. Selene was the moon. Oceanus was the waters of the earth.
Similarities to start off with Greek and Christian mythology, they both start off with darkness, nothing.
The Greeks called this nothing Chaos. Contrasting this subject, this Chaos gave birth to earth, which was Gaea, the underworld known as Tartarus, and love called Eros. God, which is basically like the chaos, invented the same things except for the underworld. The women in each myths are somewhat alike. The woman in the Christian myths led the man to sin and resulted in punishment. Where in Greek mythology most of the women were created to make men miserable.
Also a comparison between the two myths would include God made Adam and Eve without a partner, which in the same case, Gaea made Uranus without a partner.
One big contrast between the two myths include that in Greek mythology there are several gods which consist of the Olympians and the Titans and the minor gods and goddesses. In the Christian mythology there is a one and only god, which consists of the three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. In Greek mythology, the gods have many human like qualities. They live their lives as a person would on earth, and having conflicts, doing wrong things such as kill and hurt. Where in the Christian myths, God is made up to be flawless, and perfect. He does not sin or hurt others, he lives in the
heavens.
