To interpret the idea of male and female, back in the mad-men days’ males were the dominant party, the gods, and the females were considered to be the type to bend to the whim of males, mortals. They never really understand what is going on until the last minute or not until it is too late for them to make any other decision. This is due to the fact that the gods have a way of appearing to mortals, maybe as a shower of gold as Zeus did with Danaë as a form of seduction or as a bull to seduce Europa, it cold be the guise of someone else as Athena did to lure a man to his death, and many more inventive disguises. No only do they come to led mean astray but some come to advise or to aid those in need of it. It is clear that there is a give and take relationship between the gods and mortals.
It seems that without the guidance of the gods, mortals would just be wondering the world aimlessly and without influence of anyone. At the same time, the gods are responsible for many of mortals misfortunes. It is like the saying, you cannot have one with out other. On the other hand, if there were no mortals wondering the world, the gods would just make something so to play with
