Robinson's poem probably surprised a lot of readers when he wrote that the main character, Richard Cory, "put a bullet through his head." The main point of this poem was to show how people mask their feelings and aren't always what they appear to be. Richard Cory seemed to live a perfectly good life throughout the poem, he was rich, handsome, and most likely successful. Then at the end he ended up taking his life, which shows that the people we always see and judge can be living a completely different life than what we think. The similarity would be that in Robinson's poem people saw him and thought he had a perfect life, they misjudged him.
