They then find out that they are from 2 feuding families the Montagues and the Capulets. Because of the rivalry they have to keep the relationship secret. There have been many reenactments of this play by Shakespeare, But my favorite is “Romeo and Juliet,” Featuring Leonardo DiCaprio.
The movie did a good job recreating the movie in a more modern way but, it took away important parts from the book that should've been in the movie.
The 1997 movie had a different take on the movie. The movie was placed in the present when it shouldve taken placed
in the 1500s. Watching the movie take place like that gave the story a very different feel. Also the movie cut out important scenes. For example, the movie cut out the scene of Paris being killed, the man who Juliet's father picked for her to marry and the death of Romeo’s mother. Another difference between the book and the movie is the suicide scene at the end of the movie. In the book it says “Come, bitter conduct, come, unsavoury guide! Thou desperate pilot, now at once run on The dashing rocks thy sea-sick weary bark! Here's to my love! [Drink] O true apothecary! Thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss I die. [He Dies.]
In the movie as Romeo is drinking the potion Juliet wakes up and they start talking before he dies. Also at the end in the book before juliet kills herself she says”Yea, noise? then I'll be brief. O happy dagger! Snatching ROMEO's dagger This is thy sheath; Stabs herself there rust, and let me die. Falls on ROMEO's body, and dies. But in the movie she doesn't say anything she just kisses Romeo and shoots herself in the head.
Overall the movie did a phenomenal job trying to recreate Romeo And Juliet by Shakespeare. Not to much was different from the original play but, it did a good job of making the movie fun to watch and still portraying the message from the story.
