She repeats the words gold and chain. I think that the reason is that, if we value gold more that things like love and friendship than we could become prisoners to that thing, or maybe lose what really counts. During the poem it is describing things that we don’t really value such as shells, feathers, and sea shaped stones. The poet expresses the danger something such as this. In this poem, I felt like a woman was thinking and imagining. The tone was curiosity. The two poems expressed different ideas in different tones and moods. In the story “It’s all I have to bring today-” the idea is to try hard and give all you got. In “We Alone” the idea is that we should “value the things that are plentiful as much as what is scarce.” Though the pictures that went in my head are very different compared to each other. For “It’s all I have to bring to day-” I imagined a field and meadows,” for “We Alone,” I imagined a sea shore and shells lying along the beach.” Both do still tell a good lesson to
