The Two Different World
High school as well as university have been major parts of my life and I went through a transition between these two diverse and different worlds. My high school, which was International Education Centre (Intec) was a preparatory center for students who want to further their education abroad. After I graduated, I started my tertiary education at Pennsylvania State University at the Harrisburg campus. While these two schools have a lot of differences including their social environment, education systems and hostel accommodations, I have benefited from both of them as they have increased my adaptability to adjusting to new environments.
My social life at Intec was blooming very well. I had a lot of friends from different states although their country of origin was likely the same as mine. At Intec, students were divided into classes and they stayed in single classrooms permanently until the end of the semester. The benefit from this system was all students could strengthen their relationship bonds with each other. However, because I was in the same group of students all day long, it took a long time for me to know students from different classes and to befriend them. For me, I liked this system because I could know in depth my classmates as I spent more time with them. Meanwhile, it is very different at Penn State Harrisburg as I have to switch classes for every course. I meet different students in every class I enter. I also have new friends for each class and they make my mind more open to the surroundings because students at Penn State come from diverse cultures and origins. Nevertheless, as everyone is busy and does not have the chance to meet outside yet, I can only socialize with them in that particular class. Even though I know that this arrangement benefits me more, I am still having trouble accommodating to it. It is not that easy to
