The five classes are listed in order from wealth to poor. The upper class, upper-middle class, lower-middle class, working class and lower class. The upper class also known as the one percent is an exclusive group limited to the extremely wealthy. The upper-middle class are not far from the social groups and luxuries that the one percent enjoy. This class may consist of doctors, lawyers, and architects. The lower-middle class is less affluent professions such as school teachers, nurses, and a significant number of clerical workers. Conflict View Conflict theorists view stratification as a major source of societal tension and conflict. On the matter of race and discrimination conflict theorist use exploitation theory to explain racial subordination. Exploitation theory is also known as Marxist class theory named fter the theorist Karl Marx who viewed exploitation of the lower class as a basic part of the capitalist economic system, meaning racism keeps minorities in low-paying jobs. The conflict view on gender inequality is that the relationship between males and females is that of unequal power, with men dominating women.
