This paper explores the complete analysis of the complete development of Mr. Sweeney Todd. Mr. Todd, who once was London’s most skilled barber and loving husband and father, has recently been revealed as an evil mastermind responsible for killing of hundreds; including his own wife and accomplice Miss Lovett. Todd had lured his victims into his shop for “a clean shave”, he would claim, and thereafter slit his victims throats with his shaving razors and thereafter disposed them into the hands of Miss Lovett's bakery. Unsuspecting lovers of the bakery would be presented with goods containing human remains. Todd had never experienced such traumatizing events until he was wrongly imprisoned. Knowing that his wife and daughter were in the hands of such a powerful vile beast left him paranoid and petrified. He was clueless to what would happen to his family and suffered deeply everyday for the past 15 years. Physically, Mr. Todd has always been a handsome and well built man. Although his mental state deteriorated, he still kept his physique. Unfortunately, he did not keep his body well kept for Lucy or Johanna, rather, he wanted to be fully prepared to murder the man that ruined their lives. Always the clever and strong man, he exhibited his capacities when he returned to London and easily murdered his victims. From lingering pieces of wood and other materials, he had put together a trap door that would throw men to their dooms. Thereafter, he could lug around men twice his size into cruel machines. No attempt from Miss Lovett or from anyone else could clear his clouded mind. He is completely loss in the visions of his shaving razors. Although Miss Lovett sings for him and wishes for an emotional bond, he only ever dissociates and focuses mainly on polishing his beloved …show more content…
As mentioned earlier in this paper, Mr. Todd was always a kind-hearted husband and especially a compassionate father. Todd could be seen pushing around Johanna's carriage and showing her around the local gardens. He was absolutely in love with his offspring and would see to it that no harm would come near his sweet angel. It would be impossible for him to be seen as a neglectful parent. Sweeney’s cold dead heart warmed up when he had heard that she was still living after his return. He had spent fifteen years apart from his beloved daughter and only sought a way to bond with her once more. Had they lived a normal life, Todd would have been an authoritative parent for certain. He would certainly indulge his daughter to a certain extent, but he is rather intelligent and would want to raise his daughter with his same cleverness. Sweeney Todd would and has tried to do what he thought was in the best interest for Johanna, but now they will never meet

Boyle makes use of several linguistic techniques and stylistic choices to demonstrate how, to Wendy, the process of carrying Nate’s child was strictly business and, despite being her flesh and blood, she did not view Nathaniel or Nate with additional compassion and had no issue in removing them from her life. Boyle’s stylistic choice to employ the emotionless phrasal verb “handed over” to describe the way Wendy gives Nathaniel to Nate instead of a verb with a warmer, positive connotation conveys a connection Wendy feels between her and her child to nothing more than that of relinquishing property. Boyle’s use of the bizarre analogies “a piece of…

In the book, being a barber is the protagonist’s profession and desire. I can connect this to myself because I have a strong desire to play the piano 6 years ago, and I continue to do it today. This shows the similarities between the story and the experience in myself, by showing the type of passion that you are interested in and doing an activity that you are proficient in. In the quote, “I was also a conscientious barber, and proud of the preciseness of my profession, and this four days growth of beard was a fitting challenge,” this shows how the protagonist (the barber) expressed his enjoyment in shaving people and being a barber by using the words “proud”. Also, he expresses how he is dedicated into correctly shaving people, as well not showing any complaints of any challenges that he faces, which proves that it is his profession that he enjoys by not backing out in any circumstances. This also shows that he had no intention of killing Torres, even if he was faced with a decision in the future since shaving people is much more important in his life. In my experience with the piano, this shows that it is unlikely that I would play another instrument instead of the one that I had played for several years if given the decision to, which shows the amount of desire when playing the…

Among the minor characters, the wealthy, ambitious Thomas Putnam has a bitter grudge against Francis Nurse for a number of reasons: Nurse prevented Putnam’s brother-in-law from being elected to the Salem ministry, and Nurse is also engaged in a bitter land dispute with one of Putnam’s relatives. In the end, Rebecca, Francis’s virtuous wife, is convicted of the supernatural murders of Ann Putnam’s dead babies. Thus, the Putnams not only strike a blow against the Nurse family but also gain some measure of twisted satisfaction for the tragedy of seven stillbirths. This bizarre pursuit of “justice” typifies the way that many of the inhabitants approach the witch trials as an opportunity to gain ultimate satisfaction for simmering resentments by convincing themselves that their rivals are beyond wrong, that they are in league with the devil.…
