In the Abstinence-Only Sex Education system, they are taught not to be involved in any sexual activity until after marriage. Educators of this system are often known to exaggerate the dangers of sex and often include biased data about sexually transmitted diseases and birth rates in order to scare teens in hopes to prevent them from being involved with sexual intercourse.
This type of sex education becomes a great problem when discussing about the topic of sex education. Not only is the Abstinence-Only Sex Education system restricting the students knowledge of sex, it is also brainwashing the students into thinking any type of sex is bad. Because of the negative connotation that students are raised with when it comes to sex, the topic of sex is never a comfortable topic to talk about with both teens and adults.
Educators supporting the Abstinence-Only Sex Education system are purposefully trying to restrict the student's knowledge of sex in hopes of preventing them from having sexual intercourse.
