Compulsory Education In society today there are many educational opportunities that exist. These opportunities are available to all children. In the state of California, every child between the ages 3-18 are required by law, to be offered a public education. Public education can be achieved through public schools, charter schools, and home schooling. Parents are required by law to ensure that minor children are offered education to the age of 18 or graduation. “While some states offer exceptions to this rule if there is parental approval or other requirements are met, in 21 states students cannot be exempt from this law” (Anderson, 2013). Some states prefer to keep children in when they are 18 years old since that is somewhat the maximum age limit in high school in different states. In the 21 states they have the same age limit but the other 29 states have different age limits. The minimum to start school is 5 or 6. “Compulsory education laws keep students in school until they are near graduation” (Anderson, 2013). There are advantages and disadvantages of compulsory education. These aspects of the advantages and disadvantages should be readily known by educational professionals in order to direct parents in the right direction. Compulsory education offers future effects within society showing a desire of guaranteed access, future prospects, age restrictions, and limit effectiveness as it relates to education. Some states will not accept anything but by following the compulsory law. This is with no exceptions and offers a better economic future, and has evaluated what the root of the problem is. “While some states offer exceptions to this rule if there is parental approval or other requirements are met, in 21 states students cannot be exempt from this law” (Anderson, 2013). States will ensure this law to better prepare the youth for their futures. All children within the United States
