Music Report 3
Introduction
Tonight I went to see and hear the “Clarinet studio Recital with john Cozza” at the Music Recital Hall in Sacramento state university from 8:00-9:30, also it was a free concert. The Klarinatklub mainly focused on performing pieces from Tango and other beautiful clarinet music pieces. The performers varied in ages and wore black tuxedos and dresses. The hall had wood flooring and a slight outward design so that the music could better reach the audience. There was enough room for the performers without it looking too crowded or being a tight fit.
Description of the Music The general texture in the music seemed to be homophonic in nature. The pieces themselves seemed flexible however while suddenly changing paces from one texture to another. The dynamics of the pieces flowed well together and provided listeners with what need to be heard and to what degree. I found it to be most striking when the dynamics of certain pieces would come together along with the rhythm of the ensembles piece. To me the most striking were the pieces that were through composed. These pieces really felt like they were multiple pieces that were flowing gracefully between one another. I felt that there was a certain tempo and rhythm that was similar and must have been popular and commonplace when the ensemble would play pieces from the 18th and the 19th centuries. There were also long agile melodic lines in a contrapuntal texture with strong and driving rhythm that provided a wonder sound. What I liked the most were the Allegro Animato his piece consists of a main theme, two subordinate themes and a coda--ABACAB, Coda. Thematic repetition is seldom exact and is varied in harmonic
