By looking at all the problems that has been faced by North Star HyperMall, it is clear that adopting proper quality management and control can deliver solid resolutions to these issues. When we look at the fact that mall getting five stars from the press and the good reputation it has in Europe, it is clear that the potential severity that these complaints concerning quality possess to the good reputation of this organization is high. This combined with the fact that the customer turnover had exceeded the management’s initial projections, clearly shows that there is a lot at stake. But, at the same time it is clear how big the customer base is for Northstar and also they have a good competitive edge. By adopting a good quality management system like TQM and by using effective tools and methods to identify the problems and by implementing TQM, Northstar UK branch can easily reach the expectations they intended and live up to the standards set at their European branches.
In the later part of this report it discuss about the Supply chain management of Northstar. Finding suitable suppliers and selecting suitable suppliers will be addressed along with types of suppliers, process of reviewing current suppliers, Weighted supplier selection criteria for the Northstar, Global and local perspective of SCM and necessity of supply chain management. After analyzing this case study of Northstar, we found various types of quality issues and customer service issues prevailing in the mall. In the mean time we have demonstrated the operation management theory to differentiate the issues and have used quality tools and methods to get in-depth of the information.
