Condoleezza Rice was born on a November 14, 1954, Birmingham, Alabama. Condi was born as the only child of Angeline and John Wesley Jr. Angeline (Condi’s Mother) was a teacher, while John (Condi’s father) was a counselor working at the same school Angeline did. Mid-1980’s – Rice went to a physical in Washington D.C., became director of the National Secretary Council. Rice grew up surrounded by Racism in the south, but went on to becoming the first woman and first African-American and graduated in Stanford University. Secretary of State. Rice is famous because she is the first African-American woman to ever hold the position of the U.S. Secretary of States. After many years back, Rice was asked to help George W Bush run for president in 2000. When he became president, he named her national security advisor. After 9/11, Rice became important at the national & international levels. Rice also has spoken forcefully about the U.S. military action and polies to fight the Terrorists. In 2001, she proved to be an important and influential advisor to President Bush. Rice became the first African American to serve as U.S. Secretary of States. Rice once said “What you know today can affect what you do tomorrow, but what you did today cannot affect what you did
yesterday.”
Rice was growing up in a deep segregated era of American history. Rice became kindergarten piano prodigy, Rice and her family moved to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, around the 1960’s, and finished high school at age fifteen at Denver, Colorado, and was her first year at the University of Denver at the same time. Rice served in first Bush White House, but Rice tired of the toll, the White House job took on her personal life, and she resigned in the 1990’s. Later she went back to teaching at Stanford, and around 1993 became the University’s first ever female provost, which made her second-in-command at the school. Condoleezza is at the Denning Professor in Global Business and the Economy at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
