Confirmation bias is the tendency to search for or interpret new information in a way that confirms one’s perceptions and avoids information and interpretations which contradict prior beliefs. It is also known as the root to evil. People tend to look for reasoning in their beliefs which takes them away from the truth. They see what their believe tells them to see and it may take them away from reality which then causes the bias.
Some beliefs follow certain rules. Most of them can be bias at times. Some people think mixed families are a sin because of their beliefs. Another example would be gay couples. They hold nothing against anyone and support a lot of things that others do not because of their beliefs. I see Catholics as being non- bias. There are a lot of people who take their beliefs to the heart and follow every step of it. They are afraid they will be punished if they do not follow.
There are many examples for why people are biased and most are not afraid to say something about it. I stated before about mixed families and gay couples and marriages. There are a lot of biased people when it comes to these issues and their excuse is always their beliefs. They claimed we were not raised that way; it was Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve.
