Conflict In Charlotte Doyle By Avi
In the story Charlotte Doyle by Avi, one big conflict being developed is man vs herself. Charlotte doesn’t know who to trust on the ship since both families can’t board the ship. Everyone has has past (not the grummage person) tells her she shouldn’t go on the ship and that it isn't safe for her. Charlotte doesn't feel safe because she is the only girl and tries to leave but it doesn't work. When she tried to get away and off the boat they didn't let her off and sent someone else to go retrieve the bag.
I think the theme is Charlotte is scared. I know this because when her "friend" pulled a knife out she jumped and got scared. Also when he said that she could use if to protect herself it made her scared because she thinks that she needs to

In The Scarlet Letter there were a few lessons that you could have learned with direct quotes that were following that, each theme was tied to a different person and the troubles that each person went to but in reality I would have to say that each theme was tied to the 3 main characters in some sort of way. The people that I have chosen to explain each theme by is how they expressed the theme…

This constant motif metaphor of the clock prepares us to what will happen in the movie and shows us the amount of pressure lola is under to save her beloved boyfriend manni. In…

In the novel The Secret life of Bees there are many different themes in the novel but my two favorite ones are female power and race-based prejudice. In female power you see Rosaleen being lily mother even though she is not her mother but she does it because she loves lily and August giving her knowledge and helping her be strong so that she can be good in the world. Then another female power is lily asking for her mother forgiveness for killing her and remembering her mother. The other theme in the novel would be Race-based prejudice. On how Lily was growing up in the south where races were divided by the laws and how other people would have their attitude on different race.…

This play is a tale of two lovers, tied together by death due to ancient family hostility. Throughout the play, this couple, madly in love, made every effort to see each other. The love-struck pair secretly wed and planned to escape Verona together. Despite their families’ many quarrels, true love prevailed; they died in each other’s embraces and the feud between the Montagues and the Capulets came to an end. In Romeo and Juliet, a sweetly painful drama, Shakespeare uses metaphors, oxymorons, and foreshadowing to convey powerful emotions.…

Villains and heroes are the fabric of human culture. These sides of good and evil are seen in books, films, and everywhere in-between. For example, an iconic figure in American pop culture is the superhero, Superman. On the other side, villains such as Lizzie Borden, and the narrator from The Tell-Tale Heart allude to humanities dark side. The significance of villains and heroes are they encompass society’s hopes and fears. The rise of a hero represents a possible bright future, but an evil villain entails our dark past and possible dark future. The important characteristics of villains are that they spread fear and cause harm, meanwhile heroes are saviors who put others above themselves, have attributes we wish we had and that is why heroes…

The use of literary elements, such as theme and conflict, helps to further demonstrate the idea of Edna attempting to seek independence and find her inner self throughout this novel. The theme, which is the main idea which the author weaves throughout a work and wants the reader to remember, is to first find yourself before involved with others. In almost all stories the theme is very important and teaches the reader a lesson. In this novel, The Awakening, the theme plays a crucial part to the overall story. Because Edna struggles so much and eventually leaves her family to take some time for herself, it reinforces the concept of the necessity of realizing the importance of knowing who you are and your values. It makes Ednas suicide in the end of the story much more important and effective. Without this particular theme, the main point of the story, which is to develop feminism and bring it to the readers attention.…
