conclusions about death and what comes after.
I can remember how when I was young I believed death to be a phenomenon of the body; now I know it to be merely a function of the mind−and that of the minds of the ones who suffer the bereavement. The nihilists say it is the end; the fundamentalists, the beginning; when in reality it is no more than a single tenant or family moving out of a tenement or a town (42).…
Grief is a strong, sometimes overwhelming emotion felt by an individual when faced with a loss of a loved one or a personal loss, such as their health, job, or a relationship. Grief is the nature reaction to loss. Both a universal and personal experience (Mayo Clinic, 2014). Ever individual will have a different experience with grief influenced by the nature of their loss. At some point in life everyone will have a time of grieving. How the individual copes with their grief can vary, as no two people grieve in the same manner. This paper will discuss the comparisons and contrasting views as defined in the Kubler-Ross model, the five stages of grief, the story of Job in the Bible, and Buddhism regarding grief, as well as the writers preferred method of dealing with grief.…

Death is imminent to everyone, no one can escape from it sadly. Death can be describe as a permanent cessation of all vitals functioning; the end of life. It doesn’t matter if you’re the happiest person, or the poorest, you could be the most powerful beast in the African savannah, and we are all equals when it comes to dying. You don’t take nothing from this world when you die. Only dead memories that sooner or later wanders off like nothing had happen. But what happens to the family that’s left behind once someone decays off, to the unknown. A death in a family can leave many psychological problems in someone mind. It can do many damages through time and lead to more difficulties. One of the problems death bought in the novel “Everything I never told you” by Celeste Ng, was that…
Of all human stages of development and transition, none of them has profound effect and overwhelming disturbance as death. The surviving members of the deceased’s family and other close loved ones are always at a loss and the grieving that ensues thereafter is of untold emotional torment (Sherman et al., 2003). On the spiritual perspective, death is mourned with the recluse and thought of continuance of life after death. Death is increasingly being viewed as a rite of passage and is not a finality as previously perceived in the preceding ages of our current generations. However, this perspective is speculative in nature for there is no living human being that has marched on with the personal study of the afterlife and come back to life in human…
We all view death differently depending on who has passed and our beliefs about what happens after. Some may consider death a liberating concept, something to take on courageously, and, like most, many view death as sorrow…
A common belief among many groups of American Indians is when a member of their tribe passes, their soul passes on into the spirit world. They believe that they will still be able to communicate with their loved one through dreams or through the intercession of medicine people (Handbook of Patients’ Spiritual, 2013). Some tribes believe the land of the afterlife is more structured with a higher being ruling over the souls that have passed on. A less common belief, but one that is still predominant in some tribes, is the belief that the dead pass on and become part of the earth if their bodies are not disturbed from peace.…

What happens to us when we die? Is there an afterlife? These are the questions that many of us come up with at some point in our life so it worth studying and understanding them. Some religions put so much emphasis on afterlife and its importance such as Islam, some religions, such as Buddhism, believe in reincarnation and some other religions, like Confucianism, believe in no afterlife of any kind and do not talk about what might happen when one dies. In this paper I will compare and contrast the perception of afterlife in a few world religions and discuss how believing (or not believing) in afterlife of some kind would change our way of life, our morality, and our actions. The issue of abortion and suicide, as today’s important global issues,…
There is an intimate relationship between grief and spirituality before, during and after experiencing pain, agony, and sorrow. Spirituality, faith and belief in God play significant in overcoming sadness, rejection, and grief. The existence of grief is very natural and common It is extremely hard and overwhelming to interact with the people who are grieving in their life for various reasons. In the healthcare system, grief primarily affects the nurses due to nature of their job and their direct involvement with the patient during patient care process. Grief can also influence the hospital staff, including Doctors and patient’s families, relatives, and friends. Therefore it is very critical to understand grieving stages, and effective measures in overcoming the damaging effects of grief towards establishing spirituality, acceptance and Joy to everyone in the health care system. According to Kubler-Ross grief is followed by a natural phenomenon and series of cycles of denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptances (Kübler-Ross, 1969). In this literature, we will compare the grieving processes defined by Kübler-Ross against Job, the prophet (Bible) against another religion which is Islam (Quran). We also discuss an Interaction between Joy and grieving models followed by my own preferred methods of handling and overcoming grief.…
It is surprising to read about how Hindus fully accept death as passage of life and will not prolong treatment if the illness is terminal. Personally, I feel that would be difficult to handle but from the Hindu point of view, death is a part of life that everyone will eventually experience. It is sad but I feel that the way they view death makes handling the passing of a loved one easier. I think the Hindu preparations and practices for the passing of a loved are very symbolic and have a lot of spiritual meaning. It is neat how they place the body of their loved one on the floor, close to the earth, symbolizing freedom from physical constraints and the easing of the soul’s departure.…
