Introduction
A Locally Owned Company :
McDonald's is the world's leading food service retailer with more than 31,000 restaurants in 119 countries serving more than 50 million customers each day.
In India, McDonald's is a joint-venture company managed by two Indians. While Amit Jatia, M.D. Hardcastle Restaurants Pvt. Ltd. owns and spearheads McDonalds in west & south India, McDonald's restaurants in North & East India are owned and managed by Vikram Bakshi's Connaught Plaza Restaurants Private Limited.
Celebrating over 12 years of leadership in food service retailing in India, McDonald's now has a network of over 160 restaurants across the country, with its first restaurant launch way back in 1996. Prior to its launch, the company invested four years to develop its unique cold chain, which has brought about a veritable revolution in food handling, immensely benefiting the farmers at one end and enabling customers to get the highest quality food products, absolutely fresh and at a great value.

Statement of Problem
My dissertation is on the topic CONSUMER PREFERENCE TOWARDS MCDONALD’S. It talks about the fast food sector to which McDonald’s belongs competitors, threats and the costumer satisfaction and preference towards MCDONALD’S outlet in India. McDonald’s is a part of McDonald’s Corporation US.
As a part of our research work are trying to understand the costumers satisfaction level and preference which can fulfill all the costumer needs which will be further classified n further discussed in the report. Our basic object of this research work is to study the level of costumer satisfaction n preferences towards McDonald’s in India, buying behavior of the people living in India and thus listing out the short comings and drawing out conclusions according to the present needs of the consumer .As it’s said that “CUSTOMER IS THE KING” so all his/her needs have to be catered to.

    Until late 1980s, India was a very closed and protective country in terms of economic, political and social perspectives. However, after this period dramatic changes happened in all of these areas. At the time, the political leaders pursued policies of economic nationalism but these policies were inefficient and by 1990, India was facing a severe economic crisis. In response, the government introduced a series of liberalization policies designed to decrease the government control. The Indian social values also start changing in the late 1980s, there was an increasing acceptance of foreign culture. With this wide range of reforms in the 1990s combined with the large consumer market there were enough incentives for McDonald’s to enter in the Indian market. Before opening their first restaurant, McDonald’s spent many years planning and researching Indian market. The fast food company had a very well defined entering strategy, it wanted to get accepted and blend into local Indian cultural. To succeed in this objective, the restaurant developed a variety of strategies with especial focus on Indian consumers. McDonald’s was very concerned with Indian religious sensibilities, consumer’s food habits and with potential confrontations with the government and political activists. Most people do not eat beef and pork and prefer vegetarian foods, so McDonald’s created a menu that is specifically designed to Indian consumers introducing local products. Although trying to appeal all ages, the company positioned itself as family restaurant, in order to meet the changing family system and Indian social values, since is a country in which children are the family priority.
