Science fiction simply has two worlds, one world is where your head is always in, and the other world is the world the character is in currently. Science fiction also has rationalized in the material of the story, so that the story can be understood correctly. Imaginative fiction also occupies two worlds as well but is not always the same as science fiction. It's similar to the saying, "bourbon is always whiskey, but whiskey is not always bourbon." Roberts also describes and gives meaning to the word "novum" and what it's function is that helps define science fiction.
