If people work for an organization and are not competitive their work will not be seen individually.
Their work will reflect the company as a whole. If you are not competitive the company is not competitive because you are the company. I believe that the SFPD recruitment process as well as other departments confirms that the only the best applicants have the best chance of being offered a position. I believe that the recruitment process adopted by law enforcement is both effective to a certain extent. Everyone who applies to become law enforcement has their own life story. Depending on the applicants disposition the recruiters should act accordingly to the applicant’s personal situation. The skill set that a recruit needs to have is, the ability to take and follow directions. The recruit needs to be physically fit to perform the job. The recruit needs to be literate and should know have good composition to be able to write reports. Even if the recruit has not been a sworn officer the recruit needs to have common sense about what the recruit has to do in certain
situations. I believe that the starting salary is competent depending on the applicant’s objective. Not all law enforcement are working for departments are doing their job for the money. If the applicant is applying to a department I believe the pay scale is fair compared to a private firm.
