The universe that existed was unattainable by reasoning, unperceived, unjudged, peaceful and quiet. In this empty place the goddess Inu’s baby brother, Hugo, cried, piercing the silence. Inu sighed and with that breath, the light and dark separated. Hugo stopped crying. Noticing she had his attention she formed a watery ball, calling it earth and above it she made the sky. She filled the night sky with the guardian moon and his gleaming stars and the day sky with a radiant sun, Hugo clapped. Inu created land on the watery ball with desolate, barren deserts to frozen wonderlands full of ice and snow, and Hugo smiled. Next, flowers bloomed as she whisked her hand among the grasses and the colors became more vibrant than ever, the clouds formed magnificent shapes as she gazed up at them, the waters roared happily as she let her fingers slip through it's silky waves, and in every direction she saw perfection.
She gave the waters of the earth beautiful colors with greens and blues of every shade. The sky was extraordinary too as it changed colors from pink to blue to mimic the seas, Hugo was overjoyed. Inu made creatures to inhabit each place: the strong four-legged creatures to rule the land, the schools of brilliantly bright finned creatures for the seas, and the magnificent winged creatures to control the skies. And so the earth was filled with these creatures and the beauty of life made Hugo happy and stop crying. Pleased, Inu gave the finished earth to her baby brother. Finally, only the sound of laughter filled the universe and all was good.
