She had the skip every once in a while to keep up with her mother’s wide strides.
The branches of the tree in front of them creaked. Keighli whimpered and stopped.
“Don’t worry, Keighli; it is only the wind. We are almost home.” Keighli’s mother insisted. Keighli nodded and pushed herself to walk forward. The branches creaked again as they progressed towards the tree, but Keighli remembered what her mother had said. They continued to walk and the tree continued to emit rustling.
They were just ten feet away from the huge tree when a group of teenagers—a boy and two girls—jumped from the tree and landed on their feet. They had jumped from at least forty feet and yet they showed no signs of pain. They were all dressed in black, making them very difficult to see. The boy had light blond hair and steely grey eyes. The smaller girl had doe-like, brown eyes and lush auburn hair down to her waist. The taller girl had cat-like green eyes. Her black hair was tied back in a pony-tail that allowed shorter pieces of hair flow around her face. Their eyes began to shine like a predator’s.
