It is quite peculiar how the toxic air only disposed of humans. All other life has been thriving ever since. Sometime in the near future, one creature will eventually learn the secrets that the world has been holding captive in the dark.
Joey opened her lavender eyes. They adjusted to the dim lighting that shone through a few dusty windows. She slowly …show more content…
pushed herself up off the wooden table she was laying on, using her hind legs and the one front arm that she had. Her body consisted of many different animal parts and limbs, such as her back legs and body being those of a dog, her front arm and ears being those of a bear, and her beak and left wing being those of an owl. However, since she had never been completely finished, she lacked some parts that made her whole. She was missing her front right arm, a right wing to accompany her left, and a tail. This put her off balance, making her movement very awkward and clumsy. Soon enough, she realized that it would be wise to fix this issue. The place she woke up in was littered with blueprints, most of which were made just for her. Even though she couldn’t read them, she could see how to put different parts together by looking at the pictures. Luckily enough for her, the small workspace also had many different materials for creating parts. Her imaginative brain soon took control, and she began to finish what her creator had started.
Joey is a… different kind of creature. She is made up of at least three different animals, yet she has the mind of a person! Her thought process is different from most living beings. Even though she came into the world all alone, she is a very curious, imaginative, and happy Chimera. She tries to make the best of things when even in the darkest of times. However, being the curious little creature she is, she wonders about many things. She wanted answers, wanted to know how she exists. Who or what made her? Why was she alone? What is her purpose? There were so many questions. So many unanswered questions.
After a bit of experimenting with different materials, Joey finally finished her body.
In the place where her right arm should be, she positioned a metal limb with talons. She wanted to make something simple so she wouldn’t get too confused while in the process of making it. Next, she situated the artificial wing that she made proportionate to her other wing. This one was made with leather, and the same metal used for her front limb. Then she finally added the missing touch, her long, curvy metallic tail, also made with the same exact metal as the other two products. She used the same materials for everything, as they were strong and plentiful in the workspace. She would need to be careful, though. The metal that she had chosen rusts easily when
wet.
Even though she had been alive for a while now, she had yet to venture outdoors. The confinement of the small area that she was in was beginning to make her feel claustrophobic. She wanted to see how much more there was to the world. Again, questions pestered her brain. What is out there? Who is out there? Is it dangerous? She jumped up on the wooden table once again, and peered out of the window. It was still pretty dusty, considering no one had inhabited the shack in a very long time. But she could still see some of the outside world. It was a very lively, colorful, and open place. At this point, Joey couldn’t restrain her curiosity any further. Eager to learn more about the outdoors, she quickly pushed the rusty window open. She looked back at her birthplace, one final time. Then she jumped out, never to return to the cramped little shed that she once called home.
