Creative Writing: Queen Elizabeth I
The Year was 2069. Queen Elizabeth was yet to abdicate her throne. With the advancement of the Internet of Things, the line between robot and human has become blurred. Ever since she took hold of the largest cyborg manufacturing company, people have been getting suspicious...but the last thing on the Queen's mind is sharing her power.

The Duchess approached the queen and bowed.
“Catherine.” said Queen Elizabeth, grinning toothily.
“Your majesty.” Catherine shot a glance up at her grandmother-in-law, but then looked away, unable to meet the Queen's piercing eyes. The 143 year old was seven feet tall, her neck downwards surrounded by a dark synthetic body suit. Her face was a wrinkled prune and her eyes replaced by black artificial beads. “I think you know why I'm here.” Catherine said. The queen's smile had vanished. She said nothing. “You have reigned for over one hundred years.”
“Yes.” Her gaze was stone cold.
“And...”

Ten more guards filed into the room to surround the queen. She didn't move her suit an inch. She just beared her golden teeth in a grin, and fixed her tiny eyes on Catherine. A guard finally broke the silence and fired a tranquiliser dart for the Queen's neck. But he should have known better. It was deflected by the suit's automatic shield and deflected straight back at him. He'd made a mistake. He'd enraged the beast. She stuck her arms up straight and thin metal thorns shot out of her torso, impaling the circle of guards. They were dead before they hit the ground. She grinned again. She hadn't drawn blood since the revolution of ten years ago. It felt good. She stepped forward over the top of the Duchess. Suddenly Prince Charles and George burst into the room. “Mother!” Charles cried. “What the heavens has gone on he-”
“Don't feign innocence, you rat!” She spat at him. “I am no fool. I am Queen Elizabeth, Grand Empress of Greater Europe and Mars! It is no secret that you've wanted MY position for decades!”
“But

Within this story, the royal family is given distinguishing traits that explain why the princess would choose death upon her lover. Because she is the daughter of a “semi-barbaric king” (Stockton 2), the thought of her companion getting eaten by a tiger might be more accepting than losing him to another woman. The princess’s uncivilized mind would overrule the appropriate decision, and choose the tiger.…

As she was born, she bore death. The child came in the recesses of a dull and barren winter, on a night that had been so cold that it felt hollow, like a jagged hole bitten out of the earth. The queen mother had died just hours after the birth—a fever, so they claimed, no doubt brought on by the miserable chill of the season. The sickness quickly spread to the other wet-nurses and servants—she passed from hand to hand in a succession of fleeting maternity, leaving her swaddled in mourning clothes. They preferred to keep the child covered, for even a fleeting glance of her chilled milk-white skin and blood stained lips created a deathly shiver.…

Throughout history, women have been constantly viewed and treated as inferior to men. Throughout English history, there have been many female monarchs. Among these monarchs is Elizabeth I. Elizabeth’s predecessor was Mary I, who tried to restore England to Catholicism and was heavily disliked by her subjects. Elizabeth’s period of rule commenced during 1558 and lasted until 1603. Since Elizabeth I ensured that England stayed an Anglican country, she was greatly loved by her people and was able to earn respect as a ruler. However, since Elizabeth I was a female during a time where the idea of female inferiority was shared by the majority of people, she did not attain as much respect as a king would have. During Elizabeth’s reign, she used her…

The first writing strategy recommended for Kate is Writer’s Workshop co-developed by Lucy Calkins. Katie’s writing is very repetitive, she includes a lot of simple words, it is lacking details, and it was one long paragraph. Kate’s writing samples are very basic and need further development. Katie needs to learn how to write a strong topic sentence, and include details. As Kate masters when and how to apply what she learns, “the strategies will become second nature (Atwell, 1998, 115).” Writing workshop rules will help Kate develop routines that will support her, and are based on what successful writers do (Atwell, 1998). The teacher can model lessons on how to write a strong topic sentence, and add supporting details. Kate can then reread…

Have you ever played dress up and pretended to be a queen? It is not as easy as the media or TV make it seem like it is. It takes hard work, dedication, and perseverance to become a good queen like Queen Victoria was. Take it from Queen Victoria for example, Victoria lead a life full of purpose. If it was not for her, there would have been no Victorian Era that was full of truce, wealth, success, and self assurance.…

The British monarchy is one of the oldest monarchies in the world. Although the monarchy has changed quite a bit over centuries, the British monarch is still one of the most recognizable world figures. The subject of my work is studying of modern political system of Great Britain, its constitutional monarchy, its influence on the country and its importance. The object of my work is the reign of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. I have chosen this theme because I find it interesting to observe changes in such a far-away country as England, in which society and political system in many aspects differ from those in my country. I have taken the person of Elizabeth II as an example of functions and values of…
