Doctrine and Theology * Antichrist- the earthly leader of the Great Tribulation; Christ’s archenemy; referred to the “man of lawlessness” in 2 Thess. 2:3-9 and the Beast in Rev. 13; the Battle of Armageddon, the last conflict of the nations, which will be instigated by Antichrist, will culminate in the triumph of our Lord and the delivery of the Antichrist and his allies to the lake of fire; different than the spirit of antichrist * Apocryphal books- includes 15 books, all but one of which are Jewish in origin and found in the Septuagint; influenced by the Jewish canon of the OT, the custom arose of making the Apocrypha a separate section in the Protestant Bible, or sometimes even of omitting them entirely * Apostles- primary group of apostles were the Twelve, which had a ministry in the initial establishing of the Church and will sit on twelve thrones during Millennium; name translates to “ambassadors, sent with a mission”; apostolic ministry had three distinct features: 1) commissioned by the risen Lord Jesus/first hand witnesses to the teachings and resurrection of Jesus 2) unique role of establishing the Church and producing Scripture 3) signs/wonders; function is similar to the task of the pioneer missionary today (church planting) * Attributes of God- omnipotence (the quality of being all-powerful); omnipresent (present everywhere, not limited by space); omniscient (infinite, universal, complete knowledge and insight); goodness (looks out for welfare of creation); holy (separated from sin); righteous (can be depended on to act with justice) * Autographs-original manuscripts- inerrant word received from the Holy Spirit; the first and original documents; “word of God infallibly inscripturated by supernatural inspiration” “the original handwritten manuscripts produced by the human authors of scripture.
