The list of criminal justice career options is an exhaustive one where criminal justice careers, jobs, and law enforcement training, are continually growing. These positions in the criminal justice fields have different educational requirements. In the following I will research information on the hiring requirements of an entry level position of one Local, State and Federal Criminal Justice field.
The first employer I would like to apply to when I begin my career in the criminal justice field at the state level would be a deputy sheriff in Polk County. This opening is for a full time entry level position which has an estimated salary of thirty eight thousand annually. The positions “ most important and essential job function of the position is attitude which includes the following: interacting positively and cooperating with co-workers, responding politely to customers, working as a team member, functioning under intense time pressure and responding in a positive manner to supervision (Polk County Sheriff’s Office Job Description 2011). The job requires the basic valid license, social security, exams and state certifications. The deputy sheriff in this position is required to meet the primary duties of the pursuit, apprehension and arrest of law violators or suspected law violators and maintain same apprehension of suspects, inmates/prisoners or trustees during transportation (PCSOJD 2011). Hence, it is required State of Florida basic recruit certificate of compliance, mandatory in-service training and completion of the Polk County Sheriff 's Office Field Training Program (PCSOJD 2011). In order to apply for this position I would need to have completed proper exams and training in the field using firearms and protocols. In addition, having a degree in criminal justice is essential for the reason that it includes laws and protocols in the law enforcement field.
