Criminology Admission Essay

Coming from humble beginnings as the son of Dominican immigrants, I began my indoctrination into the Navy way of life at an early age. It was from these beginnings that I was instilled with a strong sense of family, loyalty, determination, devotion and trust. I am the youngest person in my family to obtain a bachelor’s degree, the first to enlist into the United States Navy, and I aspire to be the first to achieve my M.A.S. in Criminology. I owe this solid foundation and structure to the influence of my father’s devotion and to the Navy’s guiding principles of honor, courage, and commitment. Despite being full time as an Active Duty member of the United States Navy and working countless hours as a Naval Special Warfare Armorer, I worked diligently
Likewise, I have also invested off-duty time in completing the Naval War College’s Primary Professional Military Education Program, obtaining the Meritorious Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal for dedicating over 300 hours for various organizations, as well as the Presidential volunteer service award. Moreover, I was also awarded Junior Sailor of the Quarter for Fiscal Year 2016 Quarter 2 and Junior Sailor of the Year
It is an uphill battle to achieve excellence, however the leadership under which I've been honored to serve has instilled in me a sense of duty, loyalty, and keen acumen which will enable me to contribute in any place of work, civilian or military. I unequivocally reaffirm my commitment to honoring the special trust and confidence our nation has bestowed upon me regardless of which University I am accepted into. My greatest career achievement will be not what I accomplish for myself, but rather carrying on the legacy of those before me with a fiery passion as ignited as the liberty torch itself.
