Crisis Preparedness In Nursing

Crisis preparedness involves preparing all staff with knowledge and skills on a continuous basis through lectures, policy formulation and communication and simulation. “Since nurses are involved in planning, mitigation, response, and recovery aspects of disasters, they should actively seek opportunities to participate in actual disaster events, mock drills, and further educational opportunities specific to disaster preparedness” (Baack, S., & Alfred, D. 2013). When each participant understand their role and it is simulated during demonstration teaching sessions or mock drills such as fire drills, they get acquainted to what is expected and in the event of a real disaster the y are prepared to act.
