Captain America
On June 14, 2014, I watched Captain America: The Winter Soldier with my friend. The movie was directed by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, and the main characters were Chris Evans and Scarlett Johannson. The movie revolves around Nick Fury, who is the head of the organization S.H.I.E.L.D. and the adventure starts when he is assaulted by a masked ninja.
Through challenges, secret hideouts, and mysterious behavior, Captain America finds out the identity of the masked assassin. The movie continues from the end of The Avengers with a new antagonist and the focus being on Captain America. The movie takes place in Washington D.C. However in this movie we see many secret hideouts, and aerial battles, hence the setting does not have much effect. The falls during the ariel battles required decent special effects, and the special effects enhanced the wonderful combat. These stunning special effects also added to the excitement that ensued during an escape. One example that I clearly remember was when a major ship of the
H.Y.D.R.A. was being bombed, and the fire looked very authentic, and the control panel looked like one from a spaceship.
The plot was mediocre in this movie. Constantly switching through secret lairs and old
military bases, Captain America and his partner Romanoff try to deduce the identity of the winter soldier. The movie progresses quite fast and still has a run time of 2 and a half hours. Also, some things are scientifically impossible. For example, Nick Fury is able to slow his heartbeat to 1 beat per minute to feign his death, and Sam Wilson uses a jetpack that even the CIA do not use.
However, logical thinking aside, the action was fun to watch and there were elements of intrigue and suspense when Captain America finds out the identity of the Winter soldier.
The acting of the characters was enjoyable. There were specks of humor when necessary,
but the characters were wary not to overdo it,
