Summary: This article uses three different methods of research primarily looking at the racial differences in resolving conflicts between black and white police officers. The behavioral analysis between black and white officers was conducted by POPN. POPN focused their research in Indianapolis, Indiana, Florida and St. Petersburg during the summers of 1996 and 1997 (Payne, Sun 2004, p. 11). POPN focuses on three different methods in order to collect their data regarding the police officers. The sample used in their research was roughly 1,833 citizens. This article shows that race is one of the main issues between social interaction with police officers and the public and I see a resemblance. Due to the racist communities in America we see many black citizens have issues with white officers to the point where white officers feel the need to defend themselves because their life might be at risk. exact instances where individuals were victimized due to the authority granted to police officers. I enjoy that the author uses multipool methods of research to obtain their results from a firsthand perspective with the police officers to surveys from the 1990 census and their interactions with the police, but I would like to see a more recent research showing more updated data regarding the US census. Another thing since technology has improved tenfold over the past century researchers should get with police departments and rig the police cruisers with cameras and microphones and then continue the research.
