The definition of critical thinking is any mental activity that helps formulate or solve a problem, make a decision, or fulfill a desire to understand it is a searching for answers and a reaching for meaning.
After an extensive lesson on critical thinking, I have learned so much on what is to be a critical thinker and strategies on how to become a better thinker. Not until after taking this course did I really get an understanding of how to become a good critical thinker and now that I have some experience of how to think critically I can apply this knowledge to situations that may occur throughout my life and work on becoming a master
a critical thinking. One important thing I learned was to not be judgmental know the facts before you begin to make an interpretation on anything I always use to make assumptions without even thinking about what the individual or group thought. I didn’t care I felt my thoughts and opinion were my personal views and nobody would be able to change that but after learning more I began to be open-minded and consider others opinion because it is important to know what others are feeling and thinking. I wouldn’t say that in every situation I would totally agree with everyone but I’m more open and agree more than before. The three most significant things I learned about critical thinking is how to problem solve, concentrate, and dealing with my frustrations.
When it comes to problem solving I would always get frustrated when I get to any kind of problem I could not solve. I would try to think so hard that I would eventually give up. Using the methods shown in the book has help me learn how to better problem solve. Concentrating has also been difficult for me there are always things around me that distract me whether it be the children at home the television etc. after some careful thought I began to eliminate things I felt hindered my concentration and its actually working in my favor. When I feel overwhelmed it can be very frustrating usually because I don’t take my time and rush but I’m beginning to work on this as this is the most difficult for me because of this course it has enlightened me to a lot and it will be beneficial as I continue on with other challenges I may face along the way.
