Week 1 Assignment: Critical Thinking

Describe a situation in which critical and creative thought could have been used for a better outcome. Describe why it is important to think critically and creatively in similar situations.

While working at an agency, it was decided that the company should introduce a work-order form that would ease the load of work that was done by the administrative assistants at a time by streamlining it to administrative assistants with the skills most related to the task. Many of the administrative assistants would receive a higher load of work because the other departmental managers were accustomed to their work, which often left some hurrying to finish tasks and projects while others did not feel as pressed. The administrative assistants and their manager decided what services were commonly rendered to other leaders within the organization, and decided what would be included in the form. When the form was first released, it was created in a Word document that had to be emailed to the manager of the administrative assistants. This was somewhat problematic because those who sent their emails earlier may have been missed, and other employees would receive a higher priority based on the time of receipt, rather than on urgency as it was originally designed to process. It would have been better if more of the departmental leaders were involved in creating the list, so that more items that were important would have been included. While streamlining the information to one person was good, it would have been better to place the form online so that employees would have access to it online, and could send their request in without worrying that it would be overlooked.
It's important to think critically and creatively in similar situations because there are ideas that could be missed if one simply makes decisions or if someone is

There are number of situations that come to mind where critical and creative thought could have been used for a better outcome. Throughout the course of the Roman Republic, they were threatened by many different countries around them. They created a mighty military that crushed the Latin states. After that, they waged a war against the Samnites, and were victorious. They had a significant portion of Italy as a result, and came into direct contact with the Greeks. The Roman's culture was greatly affected by the Greeks (such as adapting gods). Later on, the Romans crushed the Greeks, and had most of Italy under control. Their conquests were successful because of their great military strategy and their effectiveness of their ruling. For example, they gave their conquered civilians full Roman status, and gave them a stake in success. They also crushed rebellions without mercy, and used force when necessary. The Romans were good soldiers and persistent ones; they rebuilt the losses after each battle. They also built interconnecting roads that helped them move ideas, people, and weapons/food across Italy to fortified positions. Rome essentially mobilized the manpower of Italy for war.…
